Center Valley, PA, (January 26, 2005) – The DeSales University women’s basketball team cruised past Lycoming College, 84-41, in a Freedom Conference game on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.
DSU (13-4, 5-2 Freedom) jumped all over the Warriors (5-10, 1-5 Freedom) from the very beginning of the game as they held LC scoreless for the first 3 ½ minutes and opened up a 31-5 lead at the 8:45 mark of the first half. The lead was 49-22 at the half and the second half was much of the same as the Bulldogs lead peaked at 45 points, 79-34, before the 84-41 final tally.
DeSales held Lycoming to 28.6 percent shooting and forced 27 Warrior turnovers. DSU shot 45.5 percent and out-rebounded LC, 52-28. All 11 players in uniform for DeSales scored as the Bulldogs won its 10th straight game in Billera Hall.
Freshman Amanda Kuperavage (Port Carbon, PA/Nativity BVM) registered her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 14 rebounds, senior Alyssa Antolick (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) totaled 14 points and senior Holly Liebl (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown) tallied 13 points and six rebounds to lead the Bulldog attack.
A trio of freshmen had solid games off the bench as Krista Gerlach (Oak Ridge, NJ/West Milford Township) and Rose Katz (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) each tallied eight points and Jenna Stampf (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame) totaled seven in the win.
Lycoming was led Stacy Lindeman with 13 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Christi Groller also scored eight points off the bench.
DeSales returns to action on Saturday, January 29th as they host Wilkes University in a Freedom Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm. The game is scheduled to broadcast live both on the radio and on TV. WGPA 1100 am will broadcast the game live on the radio and Service Electric Channel 2 will air the game live.
