Women’s Hoops Doubles up Wilkes, 88-43

Center Valley, PA, (January 29, 2005) – Four players scored in double digits and the DeSales University women’s basketball team more than doubled Wilkes University score in posting an 88-43 Freedom Conference win on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.
 
        The game was the first-ever televised game, done Live by Service Electric Cable TV, Channel 2 and was also the second time this season WGPA 1100 AM broadcast the game live on the radio and via the internet.  The Bulldogs (14-4, 6-2 Freedom) performed well under the bright lights for the first time as they shot 50.8 percent from the field and forced 27 Lady Colonel turnovers in the win.  The loss drops Wilkes to 3-15 overall and 0-7 in the Freedom Conference.
 
        Leading by only seven points, 23-16, at the 6:40 mark of the first half, DSU went on a 15-4 run to end the half and held a 38-20 lead at the break.  Senior Jen Netwall (Allentown, PA/William Allen) scored eight straight points to start the spurt and senior Alyssa Antolick (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) totaled five points in the run.  The second half was all Bulldogs as the lead continued to grow before it peaked at the 45-point final margin.
 
        Antolick finished with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting and added a team-high six rebounds.  Senior Holly Liebl (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown) totaled 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and Netwall finished with 16 markers on the strength of four three-pointers.  Freshman Jenna Stampf (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame) had a season-high 10 points off the bench and fellow freshman Amanda Kuperavage (Port Carbon, PA/Nativity BVM) totaled five points, five rebounds and a season and team-high five assists.
 
        The Lady Colonels were led by Andrea Kacprowicz with 15 points and Rena Bolin with 10 tallies.

        DeSales returns to action on Monday as they host the #2 team in the country Messiah College in a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
