DSU Volleyball Wins Second Straight, Tops Messiah 3-1

Grantham, PA (October 15, 2005) – The DeSales University volleyball team won its second straight match on Tuesday morning, defeating Messiah College, 3-1 (17-30, 30-22, 30-27, 30-28) in non-conference action.
 
        Freshman Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) again led the way with a team-high 19 kills.  Senior Kimberley Werner (Wescosville, PA/Emmaus) and sophomore Allie Boyer (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) also totaled double digit kills with Werner tallying 11 and Boyer finishing with 10 kills.
 
        Sophomore Gia Zimmerman (Blandon, PA/Reading Central Catholic) totaled a team-high 16 digs and freshman Rachel Koury (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) totaled 10 digs, while freshman Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) filled the stat sheet with 41 assists and 16 digs.

         The Bulldogs (12-11 overall) return to action on Wednesday, October 19th as they host FDU-Florham in an important Freedom Conference match.  DSU has clinched a playoff spot with the win over Wilkes last week, but can clinch the #1 seed throughout the Freedom Conference playoffs with a home win over the Devils on Wednesday.
