Center Valley, PA (October 20, 2005) – The DeSales University field hockey team was shutout for the second straight time as King’s College defeated DSU, 2-0, in Freedom Conference action on a brisk Thursday afternoon.

Despite the shutout, the Bulldogs (9-6, 2-3 Freedom) did have its chances to score.  The first shot of the game got past the Lady Monarch (11-2, 4-1 Freedom) but connected with the post and bounced away.  DeSales finished with a 17-14 edge in total shots for the game and also held a 14-12 advantage in penalty corners but were unable to find the back of the cage.

King’s got both of its tallies from Sara McGrady in recording the road win.  McGrady’s first tally came off a perfectly executed corner that saw Suzanna Thompson push the ball out, Jim Gimble take a shot and McGrady sitting on the post waiting to re-direct the ball into the cage.  McGrady’s second goal was a reflection of being in the right spot as she got control of a free ball in the middle of the circle and fired a shot past the DSU keeper into the corner.

Sophomore Amy Zoltek (Harleysville, PA/Lansdale Catholic) was stellar in goal for the Bulldogs making four saves including several from point blank range.  Her counterpart, Kari Leach, stopped eight DeSales shots on the other end.

The Bulldogs will try to get back into the win column on Saturday, October 22nd as they travel to Alvernia College for a non-conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
