DSU Field Hockey Drops Season Finale, 2-1, to Manhattanville

Center Valley, PA (October 29, 2005) – The DeSales University field hockey team lost its third straight one goal game this time to Manhattanville College 2-1 in Freedom Conference action in the last game of the 2005 season for the Bulldogs.
 
        The loss is the sixth straight for the Bulldogs who finish the season with a 9-10 overall record and a 2-5 record in Freedom Conference play.  The win improves the Valiants to 10-9 overall and 5-2 in the Freedom standings.
 
        The Valiants took control early scoring just 5:25 into the game on a goal from Dionne Jones as she tapped in a shot off a rebound from a saved shot on a penalty corner.  The Bulldogs tied the score just 3:02 before halftime as junior Stephanie Milowicki (Hockessin, DE/St. Mark’s) also scored on a shot off a rebound of a saved shot.  The goal was her first of the season.
 
        MC re-gained control early in the second half as Mindy Martin scored unassisted, her second goal of the season, to make it a 2-1 game and that’s how it ended with the Bulldogs unable to find another the second tying marker.

         Sophomore Amy Zoltek (Harleysville, PA/Lansdale Catholic) made 10 saves for DSU, while her counterpart, Lauren Gagnon, stopped four Bulldog shots in the win.  MC out-shot DeSales 21-9 and held an 18-7 advantage on penalty corners.
