Volleyball Drops Two in Home Tri-Match

Center Valley, PA (October 29, 2005) – The DeSales University volleyball team dropped both matches in a home tri-match with Richard Stockton College and Neumann College in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.
 
        The Bulldogs (12-14 overall) lost the first 3-0 (30-15, 30-20, 30-28) to Richard Stockton (25-7 overall) and the second match to Neumann College (14-13 overall) 3-0 (31-29, 35-33, 30-26).  Stockton took the other match, defeating the Knights, 3-0 (30-21, 30-24, 30-17).
 
        In the first match for the Bulldogs, senior Kimberley Werner (Wescosville, PA/Emmaus) led the attack with a team-high seven kills and junior Michelle Rehnert (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) totaled a team-high 13 digs.  Sophomore Gia Zimmerman (Blandon, PA/Reading Central Catholic) also tallied double digits with 11 digs in the loss.
 
        In the second match junior Janna Sheckler (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) had 10 kills and two blocks, sophomore Allie Boyer (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) totaled 11 kills and freshman Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) totaled 37 assists and 17 digs.  Rehnert added 13 digs, freshman Rachel Koury (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) totaled 11 digs and Zimmerman again had double figure digs with 10.

        The Bulldogs finished the regular season with a 12-14 overall record and a 4-2 mark in Freedom Conference, earning the #2 seed in the this week’s Freedom Conference playoffs.  DSU will host Lycoming College in the opening round in Billera Hall beginning at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 2nd.
