Women’s Tennis Makes it 10 Straight, Tops Albright, 9-0

Sophomore Courtney McClurkin improved to 10-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win on Monday afternoon.
 
Center Valley, PA, (October 3, 2005) – The DeSales University women’s tennis team won its 10-straight match on Monday afternoon defeating Albright College, 9-0, in non-conference action.
 
        The win improves DeSales to 10-0 overall.  Leading the way again was senior Laura LeVan (Orefield, PA/Parkland) who battled her way to a tough 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (10-4) win at the No. 1 singles spot.  Sophomore Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) won easily at the No. 2 spot, 6-0, 6-0 to improve to 10-0 and sophomore Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) won easily 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot.
 
        Sophomore Mary Kate McElvaney (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert) won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot, junior Colleen Solomon (Catasauqua, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 and freshman Caitlin Gerlach (Oak Ridge, NJ/West Milford) won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot.  In doubles action LeVan and Guidon won 8-4, McClurkin and McElvaney won 8-0 and Solomon and Gerlach teamed to win 8-1.

         DSU returns to action on Thursday, October 6th as they host Moravian College for another non-conference match beginning at 4:00 pm.
