Glenside, PA, (October 3, 2005) – The 22nd ranked DeSales University men’s soccer team saw its seven-game unbeaten streak come to an end losing 1-0 at Arcadia University in double overtime on Monday afternoon.
Playing extra soccer for the third time in the last four games and going into the second overtime for the second time in the last three games proved to be too much for the Bulldogs (8-2-1 overall). DSU committed a foul in the offensive box with just over four minutes left in the second overtime and Scott Wimsey of the Scarlet Knights (8-2-2 overall).
Arcadia out-shot DeSales 11-6 and held a 10-3 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore Rusty Riedmiller (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) made three saves before being replaced by sophomore Dennis Kelly (York, PA/York Catholic) in the first overtime. Kelly made one save.
DSU will look to start a new unbeaten streak on Saturday as they travel to King’s College for a Freedom Conference game beginning at 11:00 am.
