Center Valley, PA (October 8, 2005) – The DeSales University volleyball dropped both matches on Saturday at its home non-conference tri-match in Billera Hall losing to Albright College, 3-0 (30-26, 31-29, 30-27) and Gwynedd-Mercy College 3-1 (25-30, 30-21, 30-24, 30-17).

 

        The Bulldogs (10-11 overall) lost a tough match to the Lions (9-16 overall) in the first match on Saturday.  DSU had match point in the second game and were tied with AC at 27 but were unable to find the right combination at the end of each game and suffered the loss.

 

        Senior Kimberley Werner (Wescosville, PA/Emmaus) and freshman Ashley Grube (Orwigsburg, PA/Blue Mountain) each had 12 kills to lead the attack, junior Janna Sheckler (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) totaled 11 kills and sophomore Allie Boyer (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) tallied 10.  Senior Colleen Arthur (Ridley Park, PA/Cardinal O’Hara) had a team-high 21 digs and freshman Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) handed out 42 assists and added 13 digs.

 

        In the second match, DSU took game one, 30-25, but were unable to find a victory in either of the last three games to fall to the Griffins (10-11 overall).

 

        Werner again led the way with 13 kills, Grube added 11 kills and 11 digs and Sheckler totaled 11 kills.  Uliana handed out 35 assists and had a team-high 16 digs in the loss.
