DSU Drops Freedom Playoff Opener to Lycoming, 3-0

Center Valley, PA (November 2, 2005) – The DeSales University volleyball team had its season come to an end on Wednesday evening losing to Lycoming College, 3-0 (30-23, 20-21, 30-16), in the opening round of the Freedom Conference playoffs.
 
        The Bulldogs finish with a 12-15 overall record, while the Warriors advance to the Freedom Conference Championship match to play the winner of the other semifinal between the University of Scranton and FDU-Florham.  Lycoming improves to 12-19 overall on the season.
 
        Leading the Warrior attack was junior Lindsey Artz with a game-high 21 kills and four blocks.  Cassandra Kapson added 14 kills and 10 digs, Cara Kapson tallied a team-high 16 digs and Danielle Busch handed out 34 assists.

        For the Bulldogs, freshman Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) fought thru an injury to play and led DeSales with eight kills and fellow freshman Ashley Grube (Orwigsburg, PA/Blue Mountain) also played thru an injury to total six kills to lead DeSales.  Freshman Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) tallied 19 assists and a team-high 16 digs and freshman Rachel Koury (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) had 12 digs in the loss.
