Doylestown, PA, (February 15, 2005) – The DeSales University women’s basketball team used a late 12-0 spurt to turn a five-point deficit into a seven-point lead and a 61-55 win over Delaware Valley College in Freedom Conference action on Tuesday evening in James Work Gymnasium.

The Aggies took a five-point lead, 50-45, on a Jackie Hartzell three-pointer with 6:46 left in the game, but the Bulldogs responded out of a timeout with a 12-0 run that kept DVC off the scoreboard for more than five minutes in recording the road win.  DSU improves to 18-6 overall and 9-4 in the Freedom Conference, while the Aggies drop to 11-11 overall and 3-9 in the conference standings.

The run started with senior Alyssa Antolick (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) hitting a three-pointer and converting a lay-up off senior Jen Netwall’s (Allentown, PA/William Allen) steal of the ensuing inbounds pass.  Senior Holly Liebl (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown) took over from that point scoring the next seven points to give DeSales a 57-50 lead with 1:51 left to play.

The game was tied at the half as DeSales hit just 8-of-30 shots (26.7%) and the Aggies converted 35.7 percent (10-of-28) of their shots.  The Bulldogs, who committed seven turnovers in the first half, had just one miscue in the entire second half.  DSU forced 19 DVC turnovers for the game, 10 in the first half.

Antolick finished with a game-high 22 points and added 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.  Liebl tallied her ninth double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds and Netwall added 11 points.  Sophomore Kirby Lutz (Easton, PA/Pen Argyl) added six points, seven rebounds and four assists in the win.

Rachel Joyce recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Moira Donohue and Jackie Hartzell with 11 points led the Aggie attack.  Senior Bridget Golden scored seven points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the loss.
