Myrtle Beach, SC (March 12, 2005) – The DeSales University men’s lacrosse team lost its first MAC game of the season, 7-6, to King’s College in overtime during both teams trip down south to Myrtle Beach, SC for spring break.
DeSales (1-2, 0-1 MAC) trailed nearly the entire game until they tied it for the third time with a man-down goal with 1:24 left in the fourth period. The Monarchs (2-0, 1-0 MAC) rebounded in overtime, scoring the game-winner with 2:37 left on the clock. DeSales controlled most of the game, with the exception of the scoreboard, as the Bulldogs won 16 of 17 face-offs.
Junior Chris Laveglia (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) totaled a team-high three goals to lead the Bulldog scoring. Junior Brian Kuttler (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood), freshman Andy Petack (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) and freshman Sam Gobeli (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley) each tallied a goal in the loss.
Senior James Elliott (Media, PA/Penncrest), sophomore Bryan Hart (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) and freshman Jay Young (Pittstown, NJ/North Hunterdon) each added an assist and sophomore Ben Conroy (Easton, PA/Moravian Academy) totaled four saves for DeSales.
DeSales returns to action on Wednesday, March 23rd as they travel to Widener University for another MAC contest beginning at 4:00 pm.
