Men’s Tennis Starts Season with 9-0 Win Over Chestnut Hill

Senior Michael Almazan won at No. 1 singles on Tuesday at Chestnut Hill College.
 
Philadelphia, PA, (March 15, 2005) – The DeSales University men’s tennis team started its 2005 season with a 9-0 win over Chestnut Hill College in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
 
        The Bulldogs lost only five games in singles competition and four games in doubles competition.  Junior Michael Almazan (Allentown, PA/Parkland) won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, senior Bill Neal (Lehighton, PA/Marian Catholic) won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and freshman Antony May (Lowell, PA/Lowell Catholic) won his first-ever collegiate match at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
 
        Sophomore Ernie Justice (Blue Ball, PA/Garden Spot) won at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and freshmen RJ Connor (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) and Scott Davis (Wayne, PA/Archbishop Carroll) each won at No. 5 and 6 singles in their first collegiate matches.
 
        In doubles competition Neal and Almazan won at the No. 1 position, 8-3, May and Justice won at the No. 2 position, 8-1 and Connor and Davis won at the No. 3 position, 8-0.

        The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, March 19th as they host Cabrini College at 1:00 pm.
