DeSales Takes Two from FDU, Hauze Becomes All-Time Hits Leader

Senior Ian Hauze recorded three hits in the DH sweep today and became DSU's all-time leader in hits with 188 career base knocks.
 
Center Valley, PA, (March 21, 2005) – Senior Ian Hauze (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) recorded three hits to lead the DeSales University baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of FDU-Florham in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams on a cold Monday afternoon at Butz Field.
 
        Hauze, the Cambridge Search Player of the Game in the second game, now has 188 career hits and surpasses John Piscitelli for the all-time lead.  He singled in game one and recorded a single and a double in game two to break the record.
 
        Junior Matt Reppert, the Cambridge Search Player of the Game in the opener, went seven strong innings to improve to 3-0 on the season.  He struck out eight and allowed just five hits.  The complete-game moved him into a tie for first-place all-time with Brian Gillow who also tallied 13 complete games.
 
        The Bulldogs won game one by a score of 3-0 and completed the sweep with a 7-2 win in game two.  In the opener, Reppert was the story on the mound in earning his third straight win and his second complete-game of the season.
 
        Senior Dan Fratantoro (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning and senior Kyle Hoffman (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) and freshman Scott Matejicka (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) each added RBI singles in the win.
 
        In game two, Hauze finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two stolen bases.  Hoffman, Matejicka and senior Nolan Neiman (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) each had RBI hits and freshman Andrew Heard (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
 
        Senior Anthony Palmieri (Morgantown, PA/Upper Merion) earned his second win of the season going five innings allowing just four hits and striking out six.  Sophomore Jon Kensecki (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) earned his first career save pitching the final two innings, allowing just one hit.

        DeSales returns to action on Thursday, March 24th as they host Drew University in a Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
