Center Valley, PA (March 31, 2005) – Senior Brian Kuttler (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood) set a new team record for assists in a game with seven leading the DeSales University men’s lacrosse team past Alvernia College, 14-2, in a non-conference game on Thursday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (2-3 overall) scored the first 11 goals of the game and never really looked back against the Crusaders (0-3 overall). DSU scored eight times in the first period and twice in the second quarter to take a 10-0 halftime lead before finishing with a 14-2 victory.
Kuttler tallied two goals and seven assists to lead the DSU attack. His seven assists break the old record of six in a game accomplished twice by two different players. Kuttler now has 13 assists this season and 68 in his career.
Junior Chris Laveglia (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) totaled one goal and two assists and sophomore Andrew Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) added four goals for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Robert Mahon (Medford, NJ/St. Joseph’s Prep) scored twice and freshman Sam Gobeli (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley) added one goal and one assist.
Also scoring goals for the Bulldogs were freshman Jay Young (Pittstown, NJ/North Hunterdon), freshman John Tosco (Hampton, NJ/Hampton), freshman Frank Przybylski (Brick, NJ/Brick Township) and freshman Andy Petack (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone).
Freshman Brendan Klages (Atlanta, GA/Blessed Trinity) also tallied an assist and sophomore Mike Hensinger (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) made nine saves in goal.
DeSales returns to action on Saturday, April 2nd as travel to Lycoming College for an MAC Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
