Center Valley, PA, (March 31, 2005) – The DeSales University softball team split its third straight doubleheader losing game one, 11-2, before bouncing back to defeat Elizabethtown College, 5-3, in the second game in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.
Junior Danielle Jenson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) earned the win in game two as she went the distance allowing just three runs and striking out four. Sophomore Jenn Murray (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a two-run home run and junior Rachel Polaha (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the game two win.
In game one, the Bulldogs managed just one hit over the first five innings before scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it an 11-2 ball game. Sophomore Elise Wilk (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) suffered the loss as she was knocked around for seven runs on 10 hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Junior Robin Rossiter (Quakertown, PA/Staten Island Academy) and senior Jennine Mara (Philadelphia, PA/John W. Hallahan) each had RBI hits.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, April 2nd as they travel to Drew University for a Freedom Conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
