Dallas, PA, (April 11, 2005) – Senior Ian Hauze (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) led the DeSales University baseball team past College Misericordia, 23-2, as the Bulldogs set a season-high for runs scored and Hauze hit for the cycle in non-conference action on Monday afternoon in Dallas, PA.
Hauze, the Cambridge Search Player of the Game, finished 4-for-7 at the plate with three runs scored and five RBI’s. He recorded the cycle with a double in the first, home run in the third, triple in the seventh and a single in the eighth. The Bulldogs led 4-1 after three innings before scoring three times in both the fourth and fifth innings and broke the game open with five tallies in the seventh and eight runs in the eighth.
Senior Dan Fratantoro (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) stayed hot going 3-for-5 with his fifth home run of the season along with three runs scored and two RBI’s. Senior Brian Podolak (Newark, DE/St. Elizabeth’s) was 4-for-4 with two runs scored. Junior Joe Chapman (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) improved to 3-2 on the season going seven strong innings allowing just one run and striking out four.
Sophomore Matt Lezinsky (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty), freshman Scott Matejicka (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) and junior Derek Miller (Green Lane, PA/Upper Perkiomen) each had two hits and sophomore Mickey Csedrik (Lyndhurst, NJ/Lyndhurst) scored twice and knocked in three runs.
DeSales plays its seventh game in five days on Tuesday as they host Montclair State University in another non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm at Butz Field.
