Men's Tennis Ousted from Playoffs, 6-1, at Drew

Junior Michael Almazan recorded another win at No. 1 singles over Drew on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the Freedom Conference playoffs.

Madison, NJ (April 21, 2005) - The DeSales University men's tennis team was ousted from the Freedom Conference playoffs on Thursday afternoon by the #1 seeded Drew University Rangers, 6-1, in Madison, NJ.

     Junior Michael Almazan (Allentown, PA/Parkland) was the lone winner for DSU as he defeated Jason Swenson at No. 1 singles, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 for the second time this season.  Almazan and senior Bill Neal (Lehighton, PA/Marian Catholic) nearly won at the No. 1 doubles spot as well, losing 9-8 (7-4).  Neal lost at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 3-6, (10-6).

     The Bulldogs return to action on April 27th as they travel to local rival Moravian College for a match to help tune up for the MAC Individual Championship Tournament being held at Lehigh University in two weeks.
