Bulldogs Drop Two at Nationally Ranked William Paterson

Graduate Student Valerie Valach scored the lone run in the Bulldogs two losses at William Paterson University on Thursday afternoon.

Wayne, NJ (April 7, 2005) - The DeSales University softball team fell to 8-11 overall this season dropping both games of a doubleheader to 10th ranked William Paterson University in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon at Wightman Field.

     The Bulldogs dropped a 1-0 pitcher's duel in the opener and fell 9-1 in the second game to the Pioneers who improved to 16-3 overall.

     Sophomore Elise Wilk (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) suffered the loss in both games as she pitched complete games in both ends of the doubleheader.  In game one Wilk allowed just six hits and one run (unearned) as the hard luck loser and in game two Wilk allowed 12 hits and nine runs, five earned to fall to 3-7 on the year.

     The Bulldogs managed just three hits in the game one loss and graduate student Valerie Valach (Huntingdon Valley, PA/St. Basil Academy) scored the lone run on an RBI single from junior Danielle Jenson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) in the second game.

     The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, April 9th as they host Lycoming College in a Freedom Conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
