Center Valley, PA, (April 9, 2005) – The DeSales University men’s tennis returned to action on Saturday afternoon and recorded its first Freedom Conference win of the season, 6-1, over King’s College.
The win improves DeSales to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the Freedom Conference standings, while King’s falls to 3-9 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
All three doubles teams earned wins to help DeSales record the doubles point and then five of six singles matches went in favor of the Bulldogs to post the final 6-1 margin.
Winning in singles included senior Bill Neal (Lehighton, PA/Marian Catholic) who won at the No. 2 position, 6-4, 6-3. Freshman Antony May (Lowell, MA/Lowell Catholic) won at the No. 3 spot, 6-3, 6-2 and sophomore Ernie Justice (Blue Ball, PA/Garden Spot) won at the No. 4 spot, 6-3, 6-1.
A pair of freshman RJ Connor (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) and Scott Davis (Wayne, PA/Archbishop Carroll) each won at No. 5 and 6 singles, 6-3, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-0 to close out the Monarchs.
The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday as they travel to Lycoming College for another Freedom Conference match beginning at 1:00 pm.
