Center Valley, PA, (April 9, 2005) – The DeSales University baseball team has now won six straight games as they recorded its first three-game sweep of a Freedom Conference foe on Saturday afternoon defeating King’s College, 7-3 and 14-0, to complete the three-game sweep over the weekend.

The Bulldogs improve to 15-4 overall and 7-2 in the Freedom, while the Monarchs fall to 10-7 and 4-5 in the Freedom.  The Cambridge Search Players of the game were senior Ian Hauze (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) in game one and senior Anthony Palmieri (Morgantown, PA/Upper Merion) in game two.

In game one, the Bulldogs scored twice in the first inning and added three more in the sixth as insurance as they held off a pesky Monarch squad.  Hauze finished 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI’s.  His RBI single up the middle in the first inning made him the first DeSales baseball player to ever record 200+ hits in a career.

Sophomore Matt Lezinsky (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) was also 3-for-4 with three runs scored and seniors Kyle Hoffman (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) and Dan Fratantoro (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) each had two hits and combined for three RBI’s.  Freshman JT Brotoski (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) earned his first career win going five innings allowing eight hits and just two earned runs to go along with five strikeouts.

In game two, Palmieri was staked to a 7-0 lead after the first inning and that was more than enough run support for him on this afternoon as he pitched a two-hit complete-game shutout, striking out six and walking just two.

Senior Brian Podolak (Newark, DE/St. Elizabeth’s) was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBI’s to lead the bat attack.  Neiman and Lezinsky each had two hits and two RBI’s and sophomore Mickey Csedrik (Lyndhurst, NJ/Lyndhurst) came off the bench to go 2-for-2 with two singles late in the game.

DeSales does not get a chance to rest as they travel to Drew University for another Freedom Conference doubleheader with the Rangers, beginning at 1:00 pm on Sunday afternoon.
