DSU Softball Drops Fourth in a Row, Swept by Lycoming College

Graduate Student Valerie Valach was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in the game two loss on Saturday.
 
Center Valley, PA (April 9, 2005) - The DeSales University softball team suffered its fourth straight defeat and were swept by Lycoming College in Freedom Conference action, 3-1 and 9-5, on Saturday afternoon.
 
        The loss drops the Bulldogs 8-13 overall and 1-3 in the Freedom, while the Warriors of Lycoming improve 6-5 overall and 5-1 in the Freedom standings.
 
        In game one, Lyco scored three times in the fourth inning and DSU managed to answer with one tally in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single from senior Shavonne Hannahoe (Shoemakersville, PA/Hamburg Area) but it was not enough as sophomore Jennifer Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) took the loss going all seven innings allowing just seven hits and three runs.
 
        In game two, the Warriors jumped out to a 7-1 lead before the Bulldogs scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull within 7-5 but never got any closer.  Five different Bulldogs had RBI’s including graduate student Valerie Valach (Huntingdon Valley, PA/St. Basil Academy) who finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
 
        Junior Danielle Jenson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) totaled two hits but also suffered the loss going 4.1 innings allowing eight hits and four earned runs.  Cybularz, sophomore Jenn Murray (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) and junior Jenna Rau (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) also had RBI’s in the loss.

         DeSales returns to action on Tuesday, April 12th as they travel to Drew University for a Freedom Conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
