Center Valley, PA (April 9, 2005) – The DeSales University men’s lacrosse team came into today’s game having lost two MAC Conference games by a combined two goals and leave today’s contest now having lost three of its four conference games by a total of five goals after falling to Susquehanna University, 12-9, on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (2-5, 0-4 MAC) squandered an early lead as they held a 5-1 advantage at the 13:51 mark of the second period. Susquehanna (4-5, 3-3 MAC) took control over the next two periods, outscoring DeSales 10-2 in the second and third periods and eventually took a 12-6 lead with 13:44 to go in the fourth period. DSU scored three unanswered goals to cut the margin in half but could get no closer.
Senior Brian Kuttler (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood) again led the way as he totaled four goals and two assists for six points. He now has 156 career points and stands just 30 tallies behind Patrick Stringer for the all-time lead.
Junior Chris Laveglia (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) totaled two goals and an assist and freshman Sam Gobeli (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley) added two assists. Sophomore Robert Mahon (Medford, NJ/St. Joseph’s Prep), freshman Jay Young (Pittstown, NJ/North Hunterdon) and sophomore Andrew Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) each scored one goal and senior Justin Holman (Allentown, PA/Salisbury) had an assist in the loss.
DeSales returns to action on Tuesday as they host Moravian College in an MAC Conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
