Mara Leads DeSales to Sweep of Delaware Valley College

Senior Jennine Mara totaled six hits and seven RBI's in the doubleheader sweep of Delaware Valley College on Thursday afternoon.
 
Doylestown, PA (May 5, 2005) – Senior Jennine Mara (Philadelphia, PA/John W. Hallahan) finished her DeSales University softball career with six hits and seven RBI’s to lead the Bulldog softball to a sweep of Delaware Valley College in Freedom Conference action on Thursday afternoon.
 
        The Bulldogs conclude its season with a 17-18 overall record and a 7-7 mark in the Freedom Conference, while the Aggies finish with a 14-23 mark and a 3-11 record in the Freedom.  DSU won game one, 4-3 and game two, 8-6.
 
        In game one, DSU scored twice in the third and fifth innings and junior Danielle Jenson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) improved to 9-4 overall as she went the distance allowing just five hits and no earned runs.  Mara was 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI’s and sophomore Jenn Murray (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) added an RBI single in the game one victory.
 
        In the second game, Mara started things off with a grand slam home run in the first inning staking DeSales to a 4-0 lead.  The Aggies eventually tied the game at six in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Bulldogs rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh inning and finished the season on a four-game winning streak.

        Mara was 3-for-4 with a run scored and five RBI’s and sophomore Jennifer Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI’s.  Graduate student Valerie Valach (Huntingdon Valley, PA/St. Basil Academy) and Murray each added two hits in the win.  Sophomore Elise Wilk (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) earned the win to improve to 6-10 on the year.
