Center Valley, PA, (September 1, 2005) – A pair of freshmen, Katie Dishman (Nazareth, PA/Pen Argyl) and Dana Eustace (Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Township), each scored goals in their first-ever collegiate soccer game to lead the DeSales University women’s soccer team past Cedar Crest College, 2-0, on a sunny Thursday afternoon.
The win also gives first-year head coach Mary Guarino a victory in her first-ever collegiate soccer game as a head coach. Dishman scored the game-winner with just 35 ticks on the clock in the first half. She took a pass thru the defense, made a move to get the goalie out of position and fired the ball into the corner of the net.
Eustace gave DSU the two-goal cushion at the 84:12 mark of the game as she took a long pass, beat the defense and smoked a rocket into the far corner of the net. Junior Kelly Hinkle (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) stopped two shots in between the pipes to record her first shutout of the season as the Bulldogs out-shot the Falcons (0-1 overall), 19-2, for the game.
DeSales (1-0 overall) returns to action on Saturday, September 3rd as it travels to York College (PA) for another non-conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
