Allentown, PA, (September 1, 2005) – The DeSales University women’s tennis team opened its 2005 season with a 9-0 win over Cedar Crest College in non-conference action on Thursday evening.

 

        Leading the way was senior Laura LeVan (Orefield, PA/Parkland) who won at No. 1 singles and doubles to start the season.  The Bulldogs swept every match and did not drop a game in any singles or doubles match.  Sophomore Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) continued her unbeaten streak from a year ago by winning her first-ever match at the No. 2 position, 6-0, 6-0.

 

        Also recording wins in singles were sophomore Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic), sophomore Mary Kate McElvaney (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert), junior Colleen Solomon (Catasauqua, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) and freshman Caitlin Gerlach (Oak Ridge, NJ/West Milford).
