Center Valley, PA (September 14, 2005) – Junior Randy Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) scored on a penalty kick with just 14.9 seconds left in the first half lifting the DeSales University men’s soccer team past Lebanon Valley College, 1-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

Sturm scored the eventual game-winner and his sixth goal of the season after the Flying Dutchmen (1-4 overall) goalkeeper committed what proved to be a costly penalty inside the offensive box with seconds left on the first half clock.  Sturm knocked the shot into the upper right corner past a diving LVC keeper.

DeSales (4-1 overall) wins its second straight as they out-shot Leb. Val. 11-9 in the game.  Sophomore Rusty Riedmiller (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) made two saves and junior Kyle Fackler (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) prevented a goal in the first half by knocking away a shot after Reidmiller misplayed a ball and left a wide open net for an LVC forward.

DeSales returns to action on Saturday as they travel up to Madison, NJ for its first Freedom Conference game of the season against the defending Freedom Conference Champion Drew University Rangers.  Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
