DSU Makes its Three Straight with 7-0 Win over Immaculata

Center Valley, PA (September 26, 2005) – The DeSales University field hockey team won its third straight game on Monday afternoon defeating Immaculata University, 7-0, in non-conference action.
 
        Five different players tallied goals to lead the scoring attack.  Sophomore Jen Pulcini (Easton, PA/Easton) scored the eventual game-winner just 2:15 into the game as she put home a pass from freshman Shannon Mascio (Collegeville, PA/Gwynedd-Mercy Academy).  It was Pulcini’s sixth goal of the season.  Mascio assisted on the next goal as well just 33 seconds after Pulcini’s tally with junior Bethany Hepner (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) scoring on a laser beam from the top of the circle.
 
        Senior Gina Malatesta (Warminster, PA/St. Basil Academy) finished off the first-half scoring with an unassisted goal at the 15:47 mark, her 11th of the season.  DSU (7-3 overall) took a 3-0 lead into halftime but out-shooting the Mighty Macs, 19-3.
 
        In the second half freshman Marisa Baldassano (Audubon, NJ/Villa Maria Academy) started the scoring with an unassisted tally at the 41:03 mark.  Malatesta added her second of the game just 4 ½ minutes later off an assist from Hepner, Mascio added a goal to her two assists at the 55:26 mark off an assist from sophomore Casey Opdyke (Bath, PA/Northampton) and Baldassano concluded the scoring with her second, another unassisted marker with just over nine minutes remaining.
 
        Sophomores Amy Zoltek (Harleysville, PA/Lansdale Catholic) and Rachel Coleman (New Castle, DE/Padua Academy) each played one half in recording the Bulldogs’ fourth shutout of the season.
 
        The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, September 28th as they host Stevens Institute of Technology in another non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
