Volleyball Wins Third Straight, Uliana Breaks Assist Record

 
Center Valley, PA (September 29, 2005) – The DeSales University volleyball team won its third straight match on Thursday evening defeating Immaculata University, 3-0 (30-9, 30-21, 30-14), to pull one game over the .500 mark for the season.
 
        Freshman Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) set a new single match record for a 3-game match with 45 assists.  Uliana breaks the old record of 42 helpers which was set during the 1995 season.  The Bulldogs as a team also broke the team record for assists in a 3-game match with 47.  The old record was 46 set during the 2003 season.
 
        Freshman Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) led the way on the attack with a team-high 14 kills and also added a team-high six digs.  Junior Janna Sheckler (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) totaled 13 kills and senior Kimberley Werner (Wescosville, PA/Emmaus) added 10 kills in the win.  Senior Colleen Arthur (Ridley Park, PA/Cardinal O’Hara) and freshman Rachel Koury (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) equaled Rivera’s team-high of six digs and Arthur added four service aces.

        The Bulldogs return to action on homecoming Saturday as they host Cedar Crest College in another non-conference match set to begin at 1:00 pm.
