Glenside, PA, (September 3, 2005) – The DeSales University women’s tennis team continued its perfect start to the 2005 season by winning its third straight match by a score of 9-0 over Arcadia University on Saturday afternoon.
Leading the way again was senior Laura LeVan (Orefield, PA/Parkland) who won at No. 1 singles and doubles. Also winning was sophomore Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) as she extended her consecutive match winning streak to 17 matches with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Tanya Chupka.
Also recording wins in singles were sophomore Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic), sophomore Mary Kate McElvaney (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert), junior Colleen Solomon (Catasauqua, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) and freshman Caitlin Gerlach (Oak Ridge, NJ/West Milford).
Gerlach also teamed with fellow freshman Jess Ruhl (East Earl, PA/Garden Spot) to post an 8-1 at the No 3 doubles position. The Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday, September 8th as they host Wilkes University in a Freedom match beginning at 3:30 pm.
