Men’s Soccer Slows Cavaliers, 2-1

Radnor, PA (September 7, 2005) – The DeSales University men’s soccer team got back in the winning column on Wednesday, posting a 2-1 non-conference win over Cabrini College.

The win marked the first time all season that someone without the last name Sturm scored a goal as freshman German Reyes (Beach Lake, PA/Honesdale) and sophomore Daniel Jones (Ronks, PA/Pequea Valley) each scored goals to lead the Bulldog attack.

Reyes goal gave DSU a 1-0 lead and came off an assist from freshman Dustin Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May), while the game-winner from Jones came unassisted to secure the win.  The Cavaliers scored its lone goal late in the game to pull within one tally, but were unable to find the tying marker.

CC (0-3-1 overall) out-shot DeSales (3-1 overall), 11-9, but the Bulldogs held a 7-5 lead in corner kicks.  Sophomore Rusty Riedmiller (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) made six saves for DSU in between the pipes.

DeSales returns to action one week from today as they host Lebanon Valley College in the 2005 season home opener beginning at 4:00 pm.
