Field Hockey Falls for the First Time, 3-1 at Moravian

Bethlehem, PA, (September 8, 2005) – The DeSales University field hockey team lost for the first time this season and for the first time in the last seven games dating back to last season, falling to Moravian College, 3-1, in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.
 
        The Bulldogs (3-1 overall) did take a 1-0 lead as senior Gina Malatesta (Warminster, PA/St. Basil Academy) scored an unassisted goal, her fifth of the season, at the 4:21 mark.  Moravian responded with the tying tally at the 19:46 mark from Jayme Baker and scored the eventual game-winner with 25:54 gone in the first half on a goal from Savannah Bayer.
 
        The Greyhounds (1-2 overall) added some insurance in the second half on a goal from Stacee Cupples.  MC out-shot DeSales 14-12 in the game as both teams totaled 12 corners.  Sophomore Amy Zoltek (Harleysville, PA/Lansdale Catholic) made seven saves in the loss.

         DSU returns to action on Tuesday, September 13th as they travel cross-town once again to take on Cedar Crest College in another non-conference game.
