Volleyball drops Three Matches at Susquehanna

Freshman Jen Mellon totaled 49 kills in three matches on Saturday at Susquehanna University.
 
Selinsgrove, PA (September 30, 2006) – The DeSales University volleyball team dropped all three of its matches at the quad match at Susquehanna University on Saturday morning.
 
        The Bulldogs (7-13 overall) lost to The University of Scranton 3-0 (30-21, 30-14, 30-25), St. Mary’s College (MD) 3-1 (30-25, 30-18, 22-30, 30-20) and to Susquehanna University 3-1 (30-22, 24-30, 30-28, 30-21).
 
        Freshman Jen Mellon (Media, PA/Penncrest) continued to lead the DSU attack with a team-high 49 kills in the three matches.  She tallied 20+ kills in two of the three matches.  Junior Allie Boyer (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) tallied 24 kills and freshman Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) added 20 kills and 31 digs.
 
        Also playing well was junior Gia Zimmerman (Blandon, PA/Reading Central Catholic) and sophomore Rachel Koury (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) who each had 26 digs, senior Michelle Rehnert (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) who had 31 digs and sophomore Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) who had 97 assists and a team-high 36 digs.
 
        The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, October 4th when they host King’s College in a Freedom Conference match beginning at 7:00 pm.
