Center Valley, PA (October 21, 2006) – The DeSales University volleyball team lost its third straight match on Saturday afternoon, 3-1 (30-24, 25-30, 30-25, 30-26), to Cabrini College in non-conference action.
Freshman Jen Mellon (Media, PA/Penncrest) continued her outstanding season tallying a team-high 24 kills with just two errors to become just the second player in school history to record 400+ kills in a season. She finished the match with 24 kills with two errors on 55 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage. Mellon now has 414 kills on the season.
Fellow freshman Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) also had double figure kills with 10 and added 15 digs, junior Gia Zimmerman (Blandon, PA/Reading Central Catholic) had a team-high 17 digs and sophomore Ashley Grube (Orwigsburg, PA/Blue Mountain) tallied seven kills and three blocks. Sophomore Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) finished with 45 assists and 16 digs in the loss.
DSU (9-19 overall) returns to action on Tuesday, October 24th when they travel to Rutgers-Camden for a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 pm.
