Bethlehem, PA, (October 24, 2006) – Junior Kyle Moore (Hockessin, DE/Salesianum) scored one goal and added an assist to lead the DeSales University men’s soccer team past local rival Moravian College, 2-0, in non-conference action on a chilly Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs improve to 10-4-2 overall with the win, while the Greyhounds fall to 4-12-2 overall. Moravian out-shot DeSales 19-9 but junior Rusty Riedmiller (Stoudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) needed to make just three saves as most of the MC’s shots were off target. The shutout is Riedmiller’s third of the season.
Moore scored the eventual game-winner at 29:03 of the first half. He took control of a loose ball in the box off a DSU corner kick and deposited it into the net. The goal was his first of the season and the fourth of his career.
Moore added an assist later in the second half when he sent a crossing pass into the box where fellow junior Daniel Jones (Ronks, PA/Pequea Valley) scored from about eight yards out on a direct shot. The goal was Jones’ third of the season.
DSU returns to action on Thursday, when they take to the road once again traveling to Susquehanna University for another non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
