Selinsgrove, PA, (October 26, 2006) – Junior Kyle Moore (Hockessin, DE/Salesianum) scored for the second straight game but the DeSales University men’s soccer team squandered a late 1-0 lead, settling for a 1-1 double overtime tie in a non-conference game at Susquehanna University on Thursday evening.

Moore scored the game’s first goal at 11:54 on consecutive passes from senior Randy Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) and junior Daniel Jones (Ronks, PA/Pequea Valley).  The lead stood into halftime and thru almost the entire game.

With just 2:16 remaining the second period clock, the Crusaders (9-6-2 overall) scored the game tying goal as Isaac Laubach scored from 12 yards out on a feed from Matt Gawlas.  The game remained tied thru regulation and thru both overtimes with Susquehanna registering the only shot in the two extra periods.

Three different goalkeepers tended the nylon on the evening including junior Rusty Riedmiller (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) who played the first half and made two saves.  Freshman Keith Barry (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) started the second half and played the first 23+ minutes before fellow freshman Kevin Lawrence (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick) finished the game and played in both overtimes making two saves.

Susquehanna out-shot DeSales (10-4-3 overall), 12-3, and held a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.  The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to the field on Saturday when they host Lycoming College in the regular season finale beginning at 2:00 pm.
