Women’s Soccer Tops Lycoming 1-0 for Sixth Straight Win, Earn #4 Seed in Freedom Conference Playoffs

Sophomore Dana Eustace scored her 13th goal of the season in the 1-0 win over Lycoming College on Sunday afternoon.
 
Williamsport, PA (October 29, 2006) – The DeSales University women’s soccer team won its sixth straight game, 1-0 over Lycoming College on Sunday afternoon, and has earned the #4 seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference playoffs which will start on Wednesday afternoon.
 
        The winning streak is the longest in the history of the program as the Bulldogs improve to 10-9 overall and 4-3 in the Freedom Conference.  Lycoming finishes the season with a 4-10-1 overall record and a 1-6 mark in the Freedom Conference.
 
        DSU advances to the conference playoffs for just the second time in school history with the last appearance coming during the 2001 season.  The #4 seeded Bulldogs will travel to #1 seed FDU-Florham in the opening round on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
 
        Sophomore Dana Eustace (Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Township) scored the lone goal in the game off an assist from freshman Kristin Liew (Easton, PA/Easton).  The goal was Eustace’ 13th of the season.  DSU out-shot Lycoming, 13-5, and held a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
 
        Senior Kelly Hinkle (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) made three saves to record her seventh shutout of the season.  The Bulldogs 10 wins mark just the second time in program history DSU has recorded 10+ wins.
