Radnor, PA (December 6, 2006) – Sophomore Kim Rarick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill) scored a career-high 19 points leading the DeSales University women’s basketball team to its third straight win, 75-68, over Cabrini College in non-conference action at the Dixon Center.
The Bulldogs (5-2 overall) used a 13-2 run mid-way thru the first half to open up a 15-point lead, 28-13, before settling for a 38-27 advantage at the break. Cabrini (4-2 overall) cut into the lead with a 10-4 run to start the second half, but the Bulldogs countered with a nine straight points to lead by 14 and the Cavaliers never got any closer than six points the rest of the way.
DSU shot 48.0 percent for the game and held the Cavaliers to 36.2 percent shooting. Both teams were guilty of too many turnovers with DeSales mishandling the ball 24 times and Cabrini 24.
Rarick scored 12 of her 19 tallies in the second half and added five assists and four steals in the win. Senior Kirby Lutz (Easton, PA/Pen Argyl) continued her stellar play with 17 points, 11 in the second half, on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting night at the charity stripe.
Junior Amanda Kuperavage (Port Carbon, PA/Nativity BVM) had 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds and freshman Caitlin Miller (Fogelsville, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) had a strong game off the bench with 11 points and six rebounds.
Cabrini was led sophomores Katie Ryan with 17 points and Brittany McLeod with 16 points.
DeSales returns to action on Saturday, December 9th when they host nationally ranked Messiah College in another non-conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
