Reading, PA, (December 9, 2006) – Senior Steve Kriczky (Birdsboro, PA/Daniel Boone) poured in a game-high 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting from outside the three-point arc leading the DeSales University men’s basketball team to its fourth straight win, 77-67, over Albright College in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon in the Bollman Center.

The Bulldogs (6-2 overall) trailed by two points, 8-6, early in the first half before a 17-5 run put DSU up by the score of 23-13 with 6:54 to play in the first half.  Albright (2-5 overall) chipped away at the lead before both teams headed into the locker room with DeSales leading 35-30 at the break.

In the second half, DSU scored the first 10 points out of the locker room including one trey by Kriczky and never looked back.  The lead peaked at 17, 62-45, with 7:21 to go before some poor foul shooting by the Bulldogs down the stretch allowed the Lions to pull within six with just over a minute on the game clock.  DeSales collected themselves and came back to hit 6-of-8 from the line over the last minute of the game to seal the victory.

In addition to his game-high 19 points, Kriczky tied his career-high with eight rebounds.  Junior Phil Stricker (Womelsdorf, PA/Conrad Weiser) added 12 points in just 14 minutes of action because of foul trouble and senior Sedale Walton (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) came off the bench to score nine points and went a team-best 5-for-6 from the free throw line.

Freshman Darnell Braswell (Allentown, PA/William Allen) and sophomore Jeff Raimo (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) each continued its strong play as they both tallied eight points and combined for 11 rebounds, five offensive.  DSU shot 44.8 percent from the field but made just 19-of-38 from the charity stripe after entering the game shooting 71.2 percent as a team from the line.

Albright received 15 points from Michael Boles and Greg Conroy in the loss.  The Lions committed 17 turnovers and shot just 15.0 percent (3-for-20) from outside the arc.

The Bulldogs take some time off for final exams this week and return to action on Sunday, December 17th when they travel to Briarcliffe College for another non-conference game beginning at 2:00 pm.
