Center Valley, PA, (March 15, 2006) – Neumann College rallied from a 7-4 deficit late in the fourth period to record an 8-7 overtime win over the DeSales University men’s lacrosse team in non-conference action on windy Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (0-2 overall) led 7-4 with two early goals in the fourth period and continued to lead by three with 8:53 left before the Knights (2-1 overall) scored to trim the lead to two, 7-5.  Devin Mossor followed that goal with his fifth of the season at the 5:06 mark and the DSU lead was down to one.

DeSales won the ensuing face-off and proceeded to try and run the clock out on the offensive end.  After a turnover, DSU had two chances to regain possession of the ball but both clear attempts were intercepted and finally with 16 seconds left on the clock, Neumann’s Ryan McCauley scored the tying goal sending the game into overtime.

DSU won the face-off to start the first overtime period but after calling timeout to set up a play the Bulldogs failed to get a shot off before turning it over to the Knights.  NC used a timeout on the other end and following the timeout Nate Eber fired a shot from about 15 yards out on the right side of the net that screamed past the DeSales keeper and into the net for the game-winner.

Neumann enjoyed a 39-32 edge in total shots and grabbed 52 ground balls to just 36 for DeSales.  Junior Ben Conroy (Easton, PA/Moravian Academy) did make 12 saves for the Bulldogs, while his counterpart Mike McCauley totaled six saves.  Senior Dylan Beese (Berwick, PA/Hillsborough) won 10-of-17 face-offs for the Bulldogs.

Six of the seven goals for DeSales were scored by freshmen including Ricky Larkin (Holladay, UT/Olympus) and Joshua Van Hart (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) with two each.  Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) and Danny Larkin (Holladay, UT/Olympus) also scored once and sophomore Dan Thomer (Philadephia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) tallied the other marker.  Senior Chris Laveglia (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee), R. Larkin and D. Thomer each added an assist in the loss.

        R. McCauley, Eber and Mossor scored twice for Neumann and Brian Friel and Nick Schall each added one goal.  Josh Jacobs had the only assist on the day for NC.

DSU returns to action on Saturday, March 18th when they host Lycoming College in the first MAC Conference game of the season for both teams.  Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
