York, PA (March 20, 2006) - The DeSales University baseball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end on Monday afternoon as York College blanked the Bulldogs, 7-0, in non-conference action.
The Spartans (7-6-1 overall) scored five times in the bottom of the seventh inning to break open a close game. YC had taken a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single. In the seventh, York tallied the game clinching runs on five hits and one DSU error.
DeSales was led by freshman Mike Bianca (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. St. Joseph) who earns Cambridge Search Player of the Game honors after going 2-for-4 with a double. Junior Luke Pisker (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) took the loss on the mound. Pisker last 6.2 innings, allowing 10 hits and five earned runs.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, March 22nd as they travel to Alvernia College for another non-conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
