Men’s Lacrosse Falls at Susquehanna, 7-6

 
Selinsgrove, PA, (March 25, 2006) – The DeSales University men’s lacrosse team fell just short once again, losing by one goal for the second time this season, 7-6, at Susquehanna University in an MAC Conference game on Saturday afternoon.
 
        The loss is the fourth straight to start the season for the Bulldogs who are now 0-2 in the MAC standings.  SU improves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the MAC.
 
        The Bulldogs held a 3-2 halftime lead but quickly fell behind as Susquehanna scored four times in the third and DSU failed to net a goal in the third period.  Trailing 6-3, DSU pulled to within one, 6-5, with two goals early in the fourth period by senior Chris Laveglia (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) and sophomore Dan Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) but SU made it a two-goal game just two minutes later.
 
        Freshman Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) scored at the 2:08 mark to make it a one goal game once again, but DSU was unable to get off another shot on offense over the last two minutes.
 
        Thomer scored three goals and had one assist, Brancaccio totaled one goal and an assist, Laveglia had one goal and sophomore Kevin Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) netted one goal to round out the Bulldogs scoring.  Junior Ben Conroy (Easton, PA/Moravian Academy) had nine saves in between the pipes and junior Jon-Erik Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) had a team-high eight ground balls.

         DeSales will try to get in the win column on Wednesday, March 29th as they host College Misericordia in a non-conference battle beginning at 3:30 pm.
