Men’s Lacrosse falls again, 15-11 to Misericordia

Center Valley, PA, (March 29, 2006) – The DeSales University men’s lacrosse team fell to 0-5 on the season with a 15-11 loss to College Misericordia in non-conference action on a beautiful afternoon in Center Valley, PA.
 
        DeSales took control early leading 2-0 on goals in the first one minute and 14 seconds before the Cougars (2-5 overall) came back to take a 3-2 lead after one period.  In the second, CM took control with five goals to DSU’s one and led 8-3 at the break and continued to lead by five following three periods of play before the final four goal margin was posted.
 
        Leading the scoring attack for the Bulldogs were sophomores Dan Thomer (Phildaelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) and Jay Young (Pittstown, NJ/North Hunterdon) with three goals and freshmen Danny Larkin (Holladay, UT/Olympus) and Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) with one goal and two assists each.
 
        Freshman Andrew Ervin (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) totaled one goal and one assist, sophomore Shane Corley (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) had one goal, freshman Joshua Van Hart (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) had a goal and freshman Ricky Larkin (Holladay, UT/Olympus) added an assist to round out the scoring.
 
        Junior Ben Conroy (Easton, PA/Moravian Academy) made six saves in between the pipes before freshman William Kehoe (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) replaced him and made eight saves in the second half.
 
        The Cougars were led sophomore Kevin Malkin with four goals and seniors Matt Carey and Jared Kohler each had three goals in the win.  Junior Sean Collins scored once and had a game-high five assists in the win.  CM held a 45-35 edge in total shots, while the Bulldogs grabbed 54 ground balls to the Cougars 42 in the game.

        DeSales returns to Freedom Conference action on Saturday, April 1st when they host King’s College in a Freedom Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
