Center Valley, PA, (April 1, 2006) – Late rallies in both games led Delaware Valley College to a doubleheader sweep of the DeSales University softball team on a windy Saturday afternoon in Center Valley, PA.

 

        The losses drop DeSales to 6-11 overall and 0-4 in the Freedom Conference, while DVC improves to 9-10 overall and 2-4 in the Freedom.

 

        Game one went into extra innings tied at one when sophomore Nicole Dorney (Quakertown, PA/Salisbury) hit a three-run home run in the top of the eighth to give the Aggies the win.

 

        Junior Elise Wilk (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) suffered the loss going all eight innings allowing eight hits and striking out four.  Senior Danielle Jenson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) continued her torrid hitting at the plate going 2-for-2.

 

        In game two, DSU seemed to be cruising as they took a 5-1 lead thru the first three innings before the Aggies scored four times in the fourth inning and once more in the seventh to record the win.  Jenson got DSU on the board first with an RBI single in the first.

 

        Freshman Jamie Pfitzenmayer (Annadale, NJ/Hunterdon Central) had a two-run triple as part of a three-run second inning and freshman Kelly Moran (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had an RBI double in the third.

 

        During the four run fourth inning, DVC tallied five hits and drew one walk to plate the tying runs.  In the seventh, Robyn Andrews reached base on an error by the Bulldog first baseman.  She moved to second on a fielder’s choice sacrifice bunt and later scored on two consecutive ground outs.  The Bulldogs loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the inning but were unable to plate the tying run.

 

        Junior Jennifer Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) suffered the loss in game two, going 6.1 innings.  Cybularz struck out seven and allowed eight hits and five earned runs.  Jenson was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, Cybularz had two hits and Moran finished with two hits, a run scored and an RBI.
