Center Valley, PA, (March 31, 2006) – The DeSales University softball team fell to William Paterson University, 14-3, in non-conference action on a beautiful Friday afternoon in Center Valley, PA.
The Bulldogs fall to 6-9 overall with the loss, while the Pioneers improve to 12-3 overall. WPU exploded for six runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the fifth inning to take a 14-0 lead. DSU tallied three runs in bottom of the fifth inning but the game was called following the fifth because of the 10-run rule.
Junior Elise Wilk (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) suffered the loss lasting four innings and allowing six hits and nine runs. Freshman Jamie Pfitzenmayer (Annandale, NJ/Hunterdon Central) had a two-run double in the fifth and later scored on an RBI single from fellow freshman Maddie Roxandich (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic).
DSU returns to action on Saturday, April 1st, hosting Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
