Allentown, PA, (April 1, 2006) – The DeSales University women’s track and field team competed at the Muhlenberg College Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Allentown, PA.
Junior Eileen Lavelle (Tarrytown, NY/Sleepy Hollow) was among the top finishers taking fifth in the 100-meter dash (13.36) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (27.70). Junior Desi Symons (Verona, NJ/Verona) took second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:28.57 and sophomore Maggie Parlapiano (Honeybrook, PA/St. Pius X) finished just behind Symons in eighth place with a time of 20:53.00.
Sophomore Nikki Sansone (Chester Springs, PA/Bishop Shanahan) had an excellent showing taking third in the 100-meter hurdles (16.98) and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.68). Laura Durso (Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley) rounded out the top finishers in the running events with a third place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:43.61).
In the field events junior Michelle Rehnert (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) took sixth in the hammer throw with a toss of 107-00.00 feet and junior Amy Stocker (Bangor, PA/Bangor) finished eighth in the javelin (112-11.00).
DSU returns to action on Saturday, April 8th when they travel to the Messiah College Invitational.
