Bulldogs Explode for 14 runs, 20 hits, Take Series from Wilkes

Sophomore Scott Matejicka was 2-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI's in the win over Wilkes University on Monday afternoon.
 
Kingston, PA, (April 10, 2006) – The DeSales University baseball took the season series from Wilkes University on Monday afternoon exploding for 20 hits and taking game three, 14-2, at Artillery Park in Kingston, PA.
 
        Sophomore JT Brotosky (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) improved to 3-2 on the year, earning the win after tossing seven strong innings allowing six hits and two runs with three strikeouts.  Senior Mike Quinn took the loss for the Colonels lasting six innings allowing 13 hits and eight earned runs.  The win improves DSU to 12-9 overall and 6-1 in the Freedom Conference, while the Colonels fall to 8-11 overall and 3-9 in the conference standings.
 
        The Bulldogs scored early and often in the win, taking a 3-1 lead after two innings and led 5-2 thru three frames.  DSU scored in all but two innings and held WU off the board in each of the final six. 
 
        DeSales got on the board in the second when junior Luke Pisker (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) hit a solo home run.  Freshman John Pisker (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) then started a rally that included three straight doubles and plated two runs.  Fellow freshmen Nick Repas (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) and Greg Treat (Concord, NH/Concord) also doubled during the rally.
 
        Several Bulldogs had big hits at the plate including sophomore Andrew Heard (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield), the Cambridge Search Player of the Game, who was 4-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI.
 
       Sophomore Scott Matejicka (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) was 2-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI’s, freshman Pat Campbell (Bellerose Village, NY/Archbishop Molloy) had three hits and scored twice, J. Pisker had two hits and scored twice, Repas had two hits and knocked two runs in and Treat was 4-for-6 with a run scored and an RBI.

        The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, April 11th when they travel to Montclair State University for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
