Montclair, NJ, (April 13, 2006) – The DeSales University men’s lacrosse team started slowly and was never able to recover falling at Montclair State University, 18-7, in non-conference action on Thursday evening.
MSU (7-6 overall) scored six unanswered goals in the first period to open up a 6-0 lead after one period and never really looked back. DSU (1-10 overall) scored the first two goals of the second period, but the Red Hawks answered with 10 of the next 11 goals thru the second and third periods and led 16-3 after three quarters.
The Bulldogs were led once again by sophomore
Dan Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) who tallied a team-high four goals. Freshman
Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) totaled one goal and one assist and fellow freshmen
Joshua Van Hart (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) and
Andrew Ervin (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) each tallied one goal in the loss.
Sophomore Kevin Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) handed out two assists and junior Andrew Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) totaled one helper to round out the scoring.
Junior Ben Conroy (Easton, PA/Moravian Academy) made nine saves and freshman William Kehoe (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) had one save in relief of Conroy.
DSU returns to action on Wednesday, April 19th when they host FDU-Florham in a MAC Conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
