Elizabethtown, PA (April 22, 2006) – The DeSales University men’s lacrosse team dropped its fifth straight game on Saturday afternoon losing to Elizabethtown College, 17-5, in an MAC Conference game played in a heavy rain storm.
The loss drops the Bulldogs to 1-12 overall and 0-8 in the MAC, while the Blue Jays keep their playoff hopes alive improving to 4-9 overall and 4-4 in the MAC.
DeSales scored the game’s first goal 14 seconds after the opening whistle when sophomore Dan Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) found the back of the net on an unassisted tally. Tied at two with under a minute left in the first quarter, E-Town took control scoring twice over the last minute of the period and outscored the Bulldogs 10-1 over the next two quarters, cruising to the conference victory.
D. Thomer scored twice and had one assist to lead DSU. Sophomore
Kevin Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) also scored two goals, freshman
Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) scored once and senior
Chris Laveglia (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) added one assist to round out the scoring for the Bulldogs.
Junior Ben Conroy (Easton, PA/Moravian Academy) had seven saves thru three quarters of play in between the pipes and senior Dylan Beese (Berwick, PA/Hillsborough) had a team-high 10 ground balls and won 12-of-24 face-offs.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, April 26th when they travel to Drew University for an MAC Conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
