Scranton, PA, (April 8, 2006) – After winnings its first game of the season on Thursday, the DeSales University men’s lacrosse team returned to MAC Conference action on Saturday, falling at The University of Scranton, 15-7, at Fitzpatrick Field.
 
        Tied at three mid-way thru the first period, the Royals (2-8, 2-4 MAC) scored three times over the last five minutes of the period to lead, 6-3, and never trailed again.  The lead remained three goals early in the second period after each team traded goals, but UofS’ Todd Cuccia scored three unassisted goals over the next minutes to increase the edge to 10-4 and the Royals never looked back.
 
        DeSales (1-8, 0-5 MAC) was led by sophomore 
Dan Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) who tallied a team-high four goals.  Freshman 
Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) also had a solid game with a goal and two assists.
 
        Freshman Danny Larkin (Holladay, UT/Olympus) and sophomore Jay Young (Pittstown, NY/North Hunterdon) each added one goal and freshman Joshua Van Hart (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) rounded out the scoring with an assist.
 
        Junior Ben Conroy (Easton, PA/Moravian Academy) and freshman William Kehoe (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) each made five saves, senior Dylan Beese (Berwick, PA/Hillsborough) dominated the face-offs, winning 15 of 22 and grabbed a team-high eight ground balls.
         DSU will return to action on Tuesday, April 11th when they face local rival Moravian College in an MAC Conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
